Olivia Levin started a Taylor Swift fan account as a teen, which led to meeting the pop star and connecting with hundreds of thousands of other fans
After being laid off in 2023, Levin turned her fan account into a full-time career with brand deals and content creation
Levin's new book, The Story of Us, explores the Swiftie fandom's history, culture and emotional impact on fans worldwide
Olivia Levin first became a fan of Taylor Swift when she was 13. A year later, she started a fan account, SwiftiesForEternity, on both Tumblr and Instagram.
"At the time, I yearned for a community of people in my real life who understood music and were passionate about it and Taylor's music," she tells PEOPLE. "I didn't have that in real life. No one really cared. I found the online community, then I found out Taylor was on Tumblr, which is what made me join initially."
She continued the account through college — even catching the attention of Swift herself — and her follower count continued to grow. Once Levin moved to Nashville post-grad, she found a remote corporate job and was balancing her 9-to-5 career, all while keeping her followers up to date on all things Swift. However, in April 2023, she was laid off and "had to figure something out."
"I was applying to other jobs, and at the same time, my account started to blow up during The Eras Tour," Levin says. "I serendipitously met my brand partnerships agent, who was like, 'Let me try and get you brand deals.' I started putting more of my personality and my face into the account."
"I was like, 'Do you really think that's gonna work on a fan account?' She was like, 'We can try.' And we did," she continues. "It worked, and I was making more money than I ever did in my corporate job."

Over a decade since starting her page, the now 26-year-old has built a following of nearly 630,000 fellow Swifties, sharing updates on the pop star, dissecting different Easter eggs and connecting with fans around the world through their shared love of the Grammy winner.
Being a content creator and fan account, she says, "allowed me to stop looking for a corporate job and do brand deals, become a full-time creator."
"Everything led to the book deal that I got with Simon & Schuster in May 2024," she shares. "I was going to [Kansas City] Chiefs games, award shows and Eras Tour shows while writing the book. It was inspiring to be at those things and then write all about it in the book."
She considers running the page "the best job in the world."
"I'm so passionate about music, especially Taylor's. I'm so passionate about our community because I truly don't think there will ever be another fandom like ours," she emphasizes. "I don't think there will ever be another community as influential and just as positive."
Levin continues, "I love connecting with people online. I love hosting in-person events and meeting everybody. We all crave human connection. Taylor has created one of the biggest, most positive communities in the world. So to be part of it and part of helping connect people has been just a blessing."
Levin shares that life as a Swiftie is "always fun."
"We find excitement in such little tiny things every day. There was a new interview in the New York Times, and everyone got so excited," she says. "Then, when she drops the Easter eggs, everyone gets so excited. The best part is there's always something going on, and it's so fun, and the people are amazing."
However, cementing herself as one of the most active fan pages comes with some responsibility. Her life somewhat centers around the "Fate of Ophelia" singer's plans, from music and merch releases to outings with friends or her fiancé, Travis Kelce.
"For me, running the account, I could be at Thanksgiving dinner, but if Taylor does something, I have to go on my phone and be like, 'Sorry, guys, I have to update the fans,'" Levin tells PEOPLE. "Because I wanna be the first one to post. There's always something going on, and it definitely keeps us really busy."

The balance between keeping up with Swift's life and her own "goes in ups and downs," she admits.

"There are times when things are super busy — when there's an album release and a tour," she shares. "During the tour, I was updating Chiefs game scores while The Eras Tour shows were playing."
However, with the conclusion of The Eras Tour in December 2024 and Swift stepping back from the spotlight following the release of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, Levin has slightly pivoted.
"I still have a lot of time to myself in between, when I need to come up with content ideas, because even if Taylor is taking a break, I still like to post every day and keep the community going, excited and looking forward to things," she shares. "I definitely have more time right now than I did when she was on tour."
No matter what comes next for Swift, who is rumored to tie the knot this year, Levin makes it clear it will be her "main focus."
"That's my full-time job," she emphasizes, noting that she often gets called up by networks to share her opinion on the latest Swift news.
"They say, 'Be the community spokesperson,' essentially. So it consumes my life more at certain points, but I would say, right now, I've had more time to focus on my book tour and the other things that I do for work," she tells PEOPLE.
In Levin's book, The Story of Us: How The Taylor Swift Fandom Changed Our Lives, she hopes to capture "the magic of our fandom."
She was inspired to write the book to demystify what Swifties are talking about, so it wouldn't feel like an "exclusive club."
"I hope that the newer Swifties read it and feel like, 'I'm caught up now.' And they understand all the lore and the inside jokes that Swifties make," Levin says.
"Anyone can be a Swiftie. I want the newer Swifties to take that away from it. The people who are not Swifties but curious about it — maybe the ones who judge us and don't understand — if they read the book, I hope that they do understand it and stop judging it," she shares. "And for the fans who have been around as long as me, or even longer, I want them to be able to take a trip down memory lane and remember all the little things, all the moments that some may have forgotten."
"I hope that for all of those people, including Taylor, when everyone reads it, they can feel that same sense of magic that they feel when they think about The Eras Tour," she adds.

The book is a combination of Levin's lived experiences, references from Swift's nearly 20-year career and insights that she hopes "you can't Google."
"I essentially immersed myself in my 14-year-old brain and went down the rabbit hole of all my Tumblr, screenshots and archives and lived it all again so that I could remember all the things that were important to me back then and important to the fans back then and make sure I didn't forget any little things because Swifties are very detail-oriented," Levin says.
Levin admits that she felt an "immense amount of pressure" to get everything right, but ultimately, believes she "pulled it off, and the Swifties seemed to agree."
"They seemed to be enjoying the book. And a lot of people were like, 'The book should come with a tissue box,' and that was my goal," she tells PEOPLE. "There were parts where I cried while writing it, so I'm sure it's the same parts that made people cry while reading it."
"I want it just to be a book full of happiness, joy, and pure magic," Levin adds.
