1984's Supergirl became a cult favorite in the years after its release.

A spinoff of the Christopher Reeve Superman series, the movie follows his cousin Kara Zor-El (Helen Slater), a.k.a. Supergirl, who lives in Argo City on the planet Krypton. Before her planet was destroyed, Argo City was teleported into "Innerspace" and thus spared from destruction. But after losing a great power source known as the Omegahedron, Kara is sent to Earth to find it. After arriving, she discovers that she's being tracked by a vengeful witch named Selena (Faye Dunaway), who wants to harness the power of the Omegahedron for herself.

In 2010, Slater told GamesRader+ that making the movie was a great experience and that she even got to meet Reeve, who was preparing to film Superman III on the same studio lot.

"It's incredibly close to my heart," she said of the film. "Many of my friends were going to college that year and I had decided to try my hand at acting professionally. It was an incredible adventure to come to London, work out and talk to Christopher Reeve."

Joining Slater and Dunaway was an all-star cast that included the likes of Mia Farrow and Peter O'Toole. Following its release, Slater stuck around and took on two other roles within the Superman franchise.

Read on to find out where the cast of Supergirl is now.
