US telecom agency votes to expand tech crackdown on China

WASHINGTON, April 30 (Reuters) - The Federal Communications ‌Commission on Thursday ‌voted to advance a ​proposal to bar all Chinese labs from testing electronic devices ‌such as ⁠smartphones, cameras and computers for ⁠use in the United States.

The FCC ​is also ​set ​take an ‌initial vote on Thursday on a separate proposal to bar three major Chinese telecom ‌companies from ​operating their ​data ​centers in ‌the U.S. and ​could ​ban telecom carriers from connecting with those ​Chinese ‌carriers.
