Just over one year before their split, Kristy and Desmond gave PEOPLE an exclusive look at their 10-year anniversary party to show how far they'd come since they married at ages 19 and 20

Influencers Kristy and Desmond Scott went all-out for their 10th wedding anniversary just over one year before their split.

Kristy filed for divorce from Desmond on Dec. 30, according to court records obtained by PEOPLE. The court records reported that Kristy cited alleged infidelity as the reason for the pair's breakup. The divorce made headlines in early January, after Desmond opened up about the end of their relationship on social media.

"I want to begin by apologizing to Kristy, our family, and everyone who has been impacted by the public attention surrounding this situation," Desmond wrote in a post to his Instagram Stories shared on Jan. 10. "I know this news has been disappointing for many, and I'm truly sorry for the hurt it has caused."

The father of two continued to state that he and Kristy "made sincere efforts to work through" their challenges; however, after he told her he "wanted to separate" at the end of 2025, Desmond admitted he eventually "made choices that I am not proud of."

"I took responsibility for those actions, I shared this with her directly and personally, and ultimately we decided to divorce," his post concluded.

Before ending their marriage, Kristy and Desmond commemorated their milestone 10-year wedding anniversary with a glamorous party, which they gave PEOPLE an exclusive look at. In the company of their friends and family, they took the opportunity to demonstrate how far they'd come since originally tying the knot when they were 19 and 20 years old.

"We were teenagers and hadn’t even developed any style preferences, so this was our chance to redo our wedding as the adults that we are now, celebrating the life we’ve built and journey thus far!" the parents of two told PEOPLE exclusively in August 2024. "This felt even more special than our wedding."

They noted that the theme of the Houston party was "focused on floral elegance," with their aim to have the party "be elegant and timeless."

Every aspect of the special event represented a piece of their relationship, from the color scheme — which featured pops of their wedding color, burgundy red — to the dining menu curated by viral chef Desmond.

"We have been best friends since teenagers and that’s never changed," the couple said of their relationship at the time. "We focus on genuinely having fun, constantly laughing, keeping things light and spontaneous and finding humor in everyday life. 10 years flew by, we’ve literally grown up together and navigated life together."

Over the course of their relationship, the content creator couple built a massive presence on social media. Kristy boasts 16.9 million TikTok followers and 9.5 million on Instagram for her lifestyle and fashion content, and Desmond's pages are followed by 1.5 million people on TikTok and 1.8 million on Instagram.
