Josie Weaver was reveling in a slideshow of photos her grandfather took at Disneyland in 1968 when one image stopped her in her tracks: Front and center in a picture of guests enjoying New Orleans Square was a man dressed in what appeared to be modern-day wardrobe.

“That guy looks like he’s a time traveler,” the 30-year-old exclaimed in a post she shared on TikTok. “He does not look like he’s from the 60s... He’s so out of place.”

Indeed, as opposed to everyone else in the images, the man wasn’t wearing typical 1960s-era fashion. Instead, the passerby appeared to have a dark blue T-shirt, grey shorts, a crossbody bag, sunglasses, and haircut that would fit right in nowadays.

Others online were just as stunned as she was, with her video racking up more than 3.3 million views on the social media app.

For Weaver, it was the shades that stood out, as she exclaimed, “Look! He has Ray-Bans on!” However, some comments pointed out this doesn’t really prove anything. The popular sunglasses may be a common sight today, but the company started in the 1930s and were a staple of everyday fashion by the 1950s, per RayBan.

Still, others agreed with her. “Definitely stands out from the norm,” one commenter wrote, while another noted the man’s shirt was so trendy, it looked like a modern Vuori T-shirt (The performance brand was founded in 2015). Some hypothesized that perhaps he was visiting from Europe, where fashion was different then, while some wondered why he was more in focus than others in the photo. One person went as far as to say the mystery man must have an iPad in his bag.

But for the most part, commenters cherished the historic shots of the Anaheim, California, theme park. Weaver also posted another TikTok sharing more images from her grandfather’s visit, which also garnered more than 1 million views. Among the images there were shots of It’s a Small World, Frontierland, and Pirates of the Caribbean, which had just opened in 1967.

The family uncovered the images when Weaver went to lunch at her grandparents’ home in Arcanum, Ohio. Her 84-year-old grandfather showed her his old Canon camera that he first got in 1963, she told People. He had taken a trip through Arizona and California in 1968, which included the visit to Disneyland.

While the identity of the alleged time traveler remains a mystery, Weaver was impressed by the reaction to her post. “People call me dramatic about how excited I can get sometimes about things,” she told People, admitting even her grandma said, “These are just old photos.” But she also understands why there’s such an interest. “People yearn sometimes for that nostalgia… so I think that it was cool that a lot of people were really comforted by seeing those.”
