Plumb was just 11 years old when she rose to fame for playing the quintessential middle child, Jan Brady. Now, at 67, the former child star looks back fondly on her* Brady Bunch *tenure — even though she has complicated feelings about how her character was received.

During an April 27 visit to *CBS Mornings* to promote her new memoir, *Happiness Included: Jan Brady and Beyond, *Plumb revealed her reaction to seeing Jan parodied years later on *Saturday Night Live*. The portrayal arrived in the '90s — long after the show concluded — and saw *SNL* cast member Melanie Hutsell take on the role of Jan, mocking the now-famous moment she exclaimed her older sister's name three times in a fit of jealousy.

"It oddly enough felt like a schoolyard taunt," Plumb shared of her reaction to the parody. "It took me back to being that age, and it felt like someone was making fun of my performance, but this was an adult on a comedy show, and I was an adult. So it was a very odd reaction to have, but that’s sort of how I felt."

That said, Plumb made it clear that she has no ill feelings about her time on the beloved sitcom and shut down rumors that she secretly hates the show and its cast.

"Somehow that’s become a thing," said a frustrated Plumb. "I don’t know if people want to believe bad things more than they want to believe good things. The only *Brady* reunion I didn’t do was the variety show. But every other *Brady* TV movie I’ve done. I have always spoken highly of it. It’s put me where I am today.”

Plumb added that she is especially thankful for the love that Jan has continued to receive over the years, and emphasized that she still feels grateful to be part of a show that many people love so dearly.

"It’s such an amazing thing, and it’s such an honor to have people feel this way about Jan,” she gushed. “It’s so great, and I really appreciate it."

Plumb added, "At the time, we were just filming our shows. We didn’t have social media, so we were just trying to make the best show we could, and I think it was great that they really included these storylines, that children have emotions, children have hard times. And to have people like that is really wonderful."
