Soulja Boy is about to turn his swag on and seemingly run in the 2028 presidential election.

The 36-year-old rapper appeared to signal political aspirations for the 2028 election in an Instagram post on Sunday, October 12. Soulja Boy, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, titled the post "SOULJA BOY 2028" and posed in front of an American flag in the picture.

The Crank That (Soulja Boy) artist then penned, "A new chapter. A bigger vision. A commitment to creating opportunities for the next generation." The rapper, who was arrested for gun possession last year, then went on to lay out the platforms for his potential campaign in the social media post. It comes after President Donald Trump announced Karoline Leavitt's replacement.

"My focus is on four things," he continued. "Economic opportunity, criminal justice reform, education, and the future of technology and AI."

The Kiss Me Thru the Phone hitmaker said that "from music to business to technology, [he's] always believed in thinking bigger and challenging what’s possible" and is currently "exploring what it means to bring that same vision to public service."

He rounded off his post by saying that "the future starts with a conversation." Soulja Boy also added the hashtags, "#SouljaBoy2028 #America2028 #Leadership #TheFuture #SouljaBoy," to his caption.

The post was quick to spark a huge reaction online, with many users joking, "You got my vote," and "I got a feeling he gone be the first rapper president."

A third user questioned, "What is this timeline?" prompting a fourth to say, "At this point, welcome, Mr. President." Someone else wrote, "Life too serious to be playing rn mr Soulja."

Others weren't so hopeful, with a sixth fan slamming, "Soulja this would never work." Soulja Boy, who did not specify any further details, such as party affiliation, in the post, performed at the Crypto Ball in January of 2025.

He took the stage in Washington, DC, ahead of President Trump's second-term inauguration, at an event which also featured Snoop Dogg and Rick Ross.

Soulja Boy defended his work at the event in an Instagram Live stream at the time, saying that while he had been "somewhat misled" about the political implications of the event, he was working a lucrative job.

"They paid me a bag," the rapper explained, according to Newsweek. "Obama ain't never put no money in my f--king pockets. Kamala ain't never put no money in my f--king pockets. Trump put money in my pockets."

Soulja Boy went on to blast that it was a ridiculous notion to suggest he would refuse contact with the incoming president. "Y'all want me to not answer the phone for the f--king president?" he said.

He pointed out that "Trump wasn't even there" and "it wasn't even a Trump event," as "it was the Crypto Ball for crypto." And despite the backlash, Soulja Boy said he would "go again."
