Scary Movie is back to roast the horror genre.
The first teaser trailer for the sixth Scary Movie debuted in theaters ahead of Scream 7 on Friday, Feb. 27, marking the return of the Wayans brothers (Marlon, Shawn, Keenen and Damon), Regina Hall and Anna Faris to the parody franchise 26 years after the original. On Monday, March 2 Paramount Pictures released the hilarious trailer online.
Some of the modern horror movies to get lampooned in the first footage include M3GAN, Terrifier, the Scream and Halloween reboots, Weapons, The Substance and many more.
In a March 2025 interview with PEOPLE, Marlon teased what fans can expect and said the film aims to "have the same fun and the same kind of tone and Wayans flavor that we gave on the first one."
Marlon noted that the films that came after Scary Movie 1 and 2 were “missing that flavor,” and he plans to bring out “Lowry’s and that Frank’s Hot Sauce” to spice it up.

Marlon announced that he and his brothers would return to make a new Scary Movie entry in October 2024. Marlon, 53, and Shawn, 55, wrote and starred in the first two Scary Movie entries, released in 2000 and 2001 and directed by their brother Keenen, 67, but departed the franchise after the release of Scary Movie 2.
The series' fifth entry, released in 2013, was the only film in the franchise that did not feature leads Faris, 49, and Hall, 55.

When news first broke that Hall and Faris would reprise their roles in the new movie, the pair told Deadline in a joint statement that they "can't wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again.)”
Scary Movie is in theaters June 12.
