Sabrina Carpenter shared a tribute to Dolly Parton on Instagram.
The two musicians sang together on a remix of Carpenter’s “Please Please Please.”
Carpenter changed the lyrics of the song’s chorus due to Parton’s refusal to “cuss” on recordings: “I don’t say dirty words.”
Sabrina Carpenter is paying tribute to one of her idols.
The “Espresso” singer posted a series of photos of herself with Dolly Parton following the “Jolene” musician’s death at 80 on Tuesday.
“Oh dolly 💔 the only thing i could say after we first met was ‘she really is an angel walking the earth’ and ‘we look like we could be sisters!’” Carpenter wrote in her caption.

The “Manchild” singer, who collaborated with Parton on a remix of her 2024 hit “Please Please Please,” remembered her friendship with the “I Will Always Love You” singer fondly.
“I will cherish our laughter and conversations and i will keep your wisdom, your playful outlook on life, and perfect sense of humor in my pocket for the rainy days,” she wrote. “There will never be another you and how lucky are we all to have experienced your singular magic as well as your once in a lifetime voice, songs, and heart.”
Carpenter concluded, “Your light will be something the world will search forever to find again 🦋🦋🦋 i will always love you.”

Parton died on Tuesday at 80. Her team said that her death came following a “brief battle with cancer.”
The “9 to 5” songstress said that she had a request for Carpenter before she agreed to sing with her on “Please Please Please.”

“Of course, she can talk a little bad now and then,” Parton told Knox News in 2025. “I told her, I said, ‘Now, I don’t cuss. I don’t make fun of Jesus. I don’t talk bad about God, and I don’t say dirty words, on camera, but known to if I get mad enough.”
As a result, Carpenter changed the lyrics of the chorus from “I beg you, don’t embarrass me, motherf---er” to “I beg you, don’t embarrass me like the others.”
“She was so sweet,” Parton said of Carpenter at the time.
The two singers appeared in a video that showed a peek at their collaboration on “Please Please Please” that Parton shared on Instagram upon the song’s release.

“I didn’t know how tall you were. You’re like my height!” Carpenter says in the video. “These are notes that I never would have even thought of that you’re hitting.”
“Thank you for letting me do that,” Parton says. “I love it. I think we sound so much alike.”
