Last month, the tragic news broke that Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber’s son, Presley Gerber, had died at age 27, with his death being investigated as a “suspected overdose.”

People previously reported that Presley died at a rehab facility, with a secondary report adding that a call dispatched to Santa Monica police on the morning of Sept. 20 suggested that Presley had suffered from a “suspected overdose.” In a statement about the ongoing investigation, police confirmed that there was no indication of foul play.Presley was incredibly close to his famous family, which also includes his 25-year-old sister, Kaia Gerber, and they were understandably said to be “in total shock” following his tragic death, with a source telling People on Sept. 21: "They are saddened beyond words. Kaia loved that Presley was so open about his struggles; his family was so proud that he was finding strength in helping others."

The family has always been incredibly close, and Presley was deeply loved."It was later reported that Cindy and Rande’s famous friends had rallied around to help the bereaved parents at this unimaginably difficult time — including George and Amal Clooney, who are said to be part of the group “taking shifts” to stay with the family.

“George, Amal [Clooney] and a few of their other close friends have been taking shifts staying with the family so they aren’t alone,” a source told People just days after Presley’s passing. “George and Amal joined the family in Los Angeles after learning of Presley’s death. They’re helping with arrangements and whatever else the family needs. George has always been very close with both Kaia and Presley.”

This year’s event took place in London, and social media users have been left horrified after the couple were asked about their recent loss on the red carpet. In a video posted by Entertainment Tonight, a journalist can be heard asking: “We want to share our deepest condolences about Presley Gerber; is there a special way that you and the Gerbers are planning to, or hoping to, honor his legacy?”

Entertainment Tonight / Viatiktok.com“I don't think we're even in the position of being able to talk about it, quite honestly,” George quickly replied. “It’s one of the most devastating things that's happened to our family, and their family is just… As you can imagine. It’s the worst thing that could ever happen to a family.”

Entertainment Tonight / Viatiktok.comWhile George was incredibly dignified in his response, many viewers felt uncomfortable that the question was even asked at a public event less than one month after Presley’s death. One of the top comments on the TikTok clip asks: “why do some journalists think it’s appropriate to ask questions like this about grief?”

Entertainment Tonight / Viatiktok.com“Classy response to such an intrusive question. Wow,” somebody else added. Another echoed: “What a horrific question.” One more wrote: “I need celebrities to start calling out these reporters with their ridiculous questions. I would’ve said ‘what made you feel comfortable asking me that at such a difficult time.’”
