A Leonardo DiCaprio joke sparked the resurfacing of his 1991 Teen Beat interview, where he confessed to loving "pasta, pasta and more pasta"

Nikki Glaser executed a cheeky opening monologue for the 2026 Golden Globes while also giving everyone a nostalgic '90s moment with one of Hollywood's favorite "teen heartthrobs."
During the opener for the star-studded ceremony at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Sunday, Jan. 11, Glaser, 41, playfully jabbed at a mix of A-list celebrities, including Kevin Hart, Timothée Chalamet, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Michael B. Jordan.

Glaser, who also hosted the Golden Globes last year, also poked fun at Leonardo DiCaprio. The comedian joked that the actor is nominated for "one man bun after another" instead of his movie One Battle After Another. She even made a gag of the age gap between him, 51, and his girlfriend, Italian model Vittoria Ceretti, 27, adding, "You’ve won three Golden Globes, an Oscar, and the most impressive thing is that you were able to accomplish all of that before your girlfriend turned 30."
The iconic comedian went on to apologize for the joke, calling it "cheap," but noting that we, as the general public, "don't know anything about you, man, like there's nothing." She even said that she searched for any information on him and his "most in-depth interview" was from a 1991 issue of Teen Beat when the star was 17.
“Is your favorite food still ‘pasta, pasta and more pasta?’” she asked, and DiCaprio confirmed with an enthusiastic nod from the crowd. “Look it up. That’s real,” she said to the audience. Of course, the internet sleuths took that as an actual challenge, and images of the full magazine interview surfaced on social media with what seem to be DiCaprio's handwritten responses to a questionnaire titled "To Know About Growing Pains' Leonardo DiCaprio" (he appeared on the show between 1991-92).
Sure enough, the line for the young actor to fill in his favorite food read, "pasta, pasta and more pasta." The responses also included other factoids about him, including the first record he bought (Michael Jackson's Thriller), his favorite book (Lord of the Flies), his favorite actor and actress (Jack Nicholson and Meg Ryan, respectively) and his favorite song (MC Hammer's 1990 song "Can't Touch This").
Fans of the star quickly took to digging into these seemingly newer facts about DiCaprio, highlighting how some information fits into his career trajectory. One Threads user pointed out, "Pretty rad he got to do The Departed with his favorite actor," referencing his 2006 movie that starred both DiCaprio and Nicholson. A Reddit user joked, "Pink Floyd and MC Hammer - Leo’s dream mash up," as he also listed the punk group as his favorite band.
The trivia-ready bit proved why Glaser was the best choice for the hosting gig, following her well-received performance in 2025. The comedian spoke with PEOPLE earlier this month about preparing her jokes for the star-studded event.
"There's lots to joke about this year — and the star power in the room is going to be bigger than ever," she told PEOPLE at the time. "I mean, it's bigger than last year," she added. "I kind of have to keep wrapping my head around the kind of people that are going to be present in this room."
