Millie Bobby Brown is opening up about the greatest struggle she faced while filming Enola Holmes 3 — and it had nothing to do with solving mysteries.

During a June 24 conversation at 92NY for the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the episode of which dropped June 29, Brown, 22, revealed that shooting the latest installment of Netflix’s franchise in Malta came with one major obstacle: the intense heat.

“It was hot and being in that clothing...it was not Malta-friendly,” the actress said, describing filming in period costumes.

Enola Holmes 3 sees Brown reprise her role as Sherlock Holmes' younger sister, the clever detective whose latest adventure takes her to Malta for a new mystery. The star-studded cast includes Brown, Louis Partridge, Helena Bonham Carter, Henry Cavill, who is reprising his role as Sherlock, and Himesh Patel as Dr. Watson.

Brown said the temperature became so overwhelming that she found herself advocating for everyone working on set.

“I had to have a serious sit-down with production about bringing in more fans and air conditioning tents for the crew,” she explained. “Basically my sole job for two months was keeping the crew and cast cool.”

She also admitted that it was so hot that it was difficult to stay focused while filming.

“It's like when I filmed Stranger Things season 4 in New Mexico," she said. "We were filming in the desert, and I'm trying to focus, but I can't keep my eyes open because the sun and the sand was so bright ... There's so many added environment-like issues that you can face on set that you'd never think to an audience eye.”

Laughing, Brown joked that viewers may have a new appreciation for what went into making the film.

“Sweat [was] dripping down my body,” she said.

Despite the sweltering heat, Brown said filming in Malta was one of the things that excited her most about returning as the famed young detective.

“I never, never thought we'd ever leave London, so that was really exciting,” she shared. “The whole wedding theme was really exciting because I just got married myself, so I was ‘Ah, I get to do it all over again.’ ”
