Michelle Obama’s Girls Opportunity Alliance has pledged over $1 million to support girls around the world to mark the Day of the Girl.

“I’ve always believed that every girl holds a unique promise—a special way that she can change the lives of those around her, maybe even the world,” she said in a video.

The new initiative will support 25 organizations across 15 countries.

“I have always believed that every girl holds a unique promise—a special way that she can change the lives of those around her, maybe even the world,” Obama said in the video, wearing the same grandpa-core argyle sweater from a previous video. “And that’s why investing in girls isn’t just the right thing to do. It’s an investment in our shared future. That’s the work the Girls Opportunity Alliance has been committed to for years: lifting up the grassroots leaders and groups that are helping girls around the world get the education they deserve.”

The Girls Opportunity Alliance will support 25 organizations across 15 countries, including Tanzania, Jordan, Haiti, and Nepal—organizations that support girls by offering scholarships, mentorship, after-school programming, and other initiatives.

“When we create safe and supportive spaces for girls to thrive and achieve their full potential, we create a spark for positive change in communities across the world,” said Valerie Jarrett, CEO of The Obama Foundation. “The Girls Opportunity Alliance is proud to support these extraordinary organizations who are empowering girls around the world through education, resources, and so much more, to achieve their dreams and become the future leaders they have always had the potential to be.”

Obama’s video appearance comes days after she celebrated her friend Opal Lee’s birthday with a sweet Instagram photo in which she wore a black dress. The former first lady also recently marked her anniversary with Barack Obama with another new video on social media.
