Julianne Moore shares two children with husband Bart Freundlich

Julianne Moore is a proud mom of two!

The Sirens actress met her husband, Bart Freundlich, when he was directing her film The Myth of Fingerprints in 1996. The couple welcomed son Caleb Moore Freundlich in 1997 and daughter Liv Helen Moore Freundlich in 2002 — what she called “the happiest days of my life” — before getting married in 2003.

These days, both of Moore’s kids are all grown up, with Cal working as a musician and Liv as an assistant. Still, she always puts them first. “My family makes me most happy,” Moore previously told PEOPLE. “It would be miserable without them.”

On Oct. 12, Moore announced that Caleb married his longtime love Kibriyaá Morgan. “This happened!!! We love love love you @musicbycalebmoore @kikix12 ❤️,” she wrote on Instagram.

Moore and Bart welcomed their first child, Caleb, on Dec. 4, 1997. Their firstborn took an interest in music at a very young age.

“It definitely all started with my parents,” he told Shoutout LA in October 2022. “They always wished they could play an instrument and so they were adamant on me learning one when I was young. They were supportive no matter how it sounded.”

His music took a backseat in high school as he focused on playing basketball, which earned him a spot on the team at Davidson College from 2016 to 2020, according to his website.

Caleb graduated from college amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “We could not be prouder of everything he has accomplished these last 4 years — graduating with honors, playing for @davidsonbasketball and getting into grad school... We love you so much Cal and we are SO PROUD,” the May December actress shared on Instagram in May 2020.

The budding musician went on to earn a master’s degree in music from NYU Steinhardt. He now works as a musician and adjunct professor teaching Music Production for Animation at the Fashion Institute of Technology, according to his LinkedIn, with his website explaining that he has written “music for a wide variety of projects, from documentary and narrative films to animations, video games and even web-comics.”

Caleb proposed to his longtime love Morgan in August 2024. “It’s pronounced FIANCÉ,” the musician wrote on Instagram alongside photos of the newly engaged couple.

Moore announced that the couple had tied the knot in October 2026, sharing a video of the newlyweds dancing at their wedding on Instagram.

Moore and Bart completed their family with the birth of their daughter, Liv, on April 8, 2002.

“I always tell my little girl that I can remember lying in the bathtub when I was pregnant,” Moore told The Guardian in July 2008. “I say I wished and wished for a girl and got her.”

At a young age, Liv followed her mom into the entertainment business and had roles in Trust the Man (2005) and The Rebound (2009).

Moore is protective of her daughter, who was 12 when the Sandy Hook school shooting happened. After the day’s events, Liv inspired Moore to get involved with gun control activism.

“I was so careful that day to keep the news away from her,” she explained to PEOPLE in 2018. “My idea was I was trying to protect my child.” However, Liv heard the news anyway. “I was absolutely devastated. That was the moment when I realized ... that if I didn’t do something about gun violence, then I wasn’t being a responsible parent.”

Moore took a leadership role on the creative council of Everytown for Gun Safety and Liv was inspired to join the branch Students Demand Action.

“My mom created a path for me to build my confidence and join the movement,” Liv told PEOPLE. “Watching her do this work since I was really little makes me really proud.” Both children joined their parents at a gun reform rally in Washington, D.C., in 2018.

Liv graduated from high school in 2020, and Moore was thrilled about her milestone achievement. “We are so proud of everything she is and everything she has accomplished,” the Boogie Nights star wrote on Instagram. “She is smart and brave and kind, and I can’t wait to see what she does next.”

She’s done some modeling, making her debut for J.Crew in 2017 and later starred in a campaign for Hourglass cosmetics with Moore in 2022. “My girl, beautiful inside and out,” the actress wrote alongside a photo for another mother-daughter campaign, this time for jewelry brand Bvlgari.

The Dear Evan Hansen star is head over heels for her mini-me. “I’ve been bragging about Liv since the day she was born, and I’m so impressed by how well she navigates the world and how mature she is,” Moore told Harper’s Bazaar in April 2022 as part of their Bvlgari partnership.

Moore supported her daughter once again when Liv graduated from Northwestern University in June 2024 with a degree in English.

“This smart, wonderful, beautiful and insightful young woman graduated from @northwesternu. We are bursting with pride @livfreundlich - congratulations on your accomplishment #wildcat. We love love love you,” the doting mom wrote on Instagram.

After working as an assistant at WME, Liv became an assistant to the founder of Project Infinity, per her LinkedIn.
