The actors' most recent movie One Battle After Another won six Academy Awards (including Best Picture) at the 2026 Oscars

Benicio del Toro and Leonardo DiCaprio are still hanging out, months after their recent movie One Battle After Another hit theaters and ultimately won Best Picture at the 2026 Oscars.
Del Toro, 59, and DiCaprio, 51, were photographed smiling as they had a chat while out for a walk together in New York City on Thursday, April 30. The pair costarred with Sean Penn, Teyana Taylor, Chase Infiniti, Regina Hall and more in One Battle After Another, which won six Academy Awards on March 15, including for Best Picture.
DiCaprio portrayed a former revolutionary figure living in hiding under the name Bob Ferguson in the movie, which follows his daughter Wylla's (Infiniti, 25) kidnapping by the movie's villain Steven J. Lockjaw (Penn, 65, who won Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars). Del Toro plays Wylla's karate instructor Sensei Sergio St. Carlos, who helps Bob evade capture from federal officers and assists him in his effort to reunite with his daughter. At the Oscars, Del Toro was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor alongside Penn.

Del Toro said at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards in January that he almost was not able to appear in the movie. DiCaprio also shared in a September 2025 interview with Screen Rant that the entire production shut down while he and writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson waited for Del Toro to finish filming a separate movie so he could portray Sensei St. Carlos. Del Toro also spoke highly of DiCaprio when he caught up with PEOPLE at the movie's Los Angeles premiere back in September 2025.

“With Leo, you just let him bring the character, and you just ... he's the story. So for me [...] with Leo, it's like, work around him and just [make] sure that we fed the story with my character in it,” he said at the time. “And Leo is one of those actors that I've been admiring for decades, and I never had a chance to work with. So getting this chance to work with him was a great experience and a great opportunity for me, and I hope he feels the same way.”

Following One Battle After Another, DiCaprio is making his seventh feature film with longtime collaborator Martin Scorsese, What Happens at Night. The movie will pair DiCaprio with Jennifer Lawrence in an adaptation of author Peter Cameron's novel of the same name. They star as a married American couple who travel to a small, snowy European town to adopt a baby and check in to a creepy hotel.
In October 2025, Deadline reported that del Toro will next costar with Cameron Diaz in a new movie titled Reenactment.
