Kate Middleton revealed she secretly completed Britain's National Three Peaks Challenge

The challenge entails climbing Britain's three tallest peaks in less than 24 hours

The Princess of Wales said the feat was meant to spotlight life after a cancer diagnosis and raise funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity

Kate Middleton secretly climbed Britain's three highest peaks as part of a special campaign to highlight life after a cancer diagnosis.

The challenge, known as the National Three Peaks Challenge, involves climbing the highest summits in Scotland, England and Wales — Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, respectively — within 24 hours.

The challenge covers 23 miles of hiking with a total elevation gain of 10,052 feet, per ThreePeaksChallenge.uk.

After completing her final climb — Snowdon — Kate, 44, was met at the end by husband Prince William and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as well as her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, and her brother, James Middleton, the Palace confirmed.

She did each climb solo, but was supported throughout the three routes by Mountain Rescue.

Kate shared a photo of herself at the summit of Ben Nevis on social media on Sunday, June 28. In the photo, which was taken on Saturday evening, June 27, the Princess of Wales can be seen smiling widely in a coat and hiking gear.

She accompanied the photo with a heartfelt message about her decision to complete the challenge.

“Every year, hundreds of thousands of people in this country hear the words no one wants to hear,” she began in her post.

“What follows is a path that tests every part of who we are: physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually. The challenges ripple outwards, touching families, friendships, work and the quiet moments we spend alone with our thoughts,” she continued.

“Cancer doesn't just affect the body. It changes how you think and feel and profoundly affects every aspect of life. I know this personally, and that the journey through and beyond treatment requires more than medicine alone,” she added.

Kate, who announced that she was in remission from cancer in January 2025 after revealing her diagnosis the previous year, went on to share that she embarked on the National Three Peaks Challenge “not simply as a physical endevor,” but “as a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back.”

She explained that her participation in the challenge would help raise funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity — specifically the charity's efforts to expand access to holistic cancer care for patients across the U.K.

She added that holistic approaches to care “complement clinical pathways and support patients' ability to maintain their wellbeing, resilience and quality of life during an exceptionally difficult time.”

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity launched a specially designed fundraising page for people to donate following Kate's post.

Donations will go toward the development of a new center for holistic wellbeing and recovery at The Royal Marsden, as well as contribute to the creation of a specialized program to enhance physical, psychological and emotional recovery, per the fundraising page.
