John Mulaney is postponing several upcoming shows following the tragic death of Renee Good at the hands of an ICE officer in Minneapolis.

The comedian took to Instagram on Thursday evening (Dec. 8) to share that after much consideration, he would be rescheduling his three shows set to take place at the Armory in downtown Minneapolis this weekend.

The appearances, as part of his Mister Whatever tour, were originally scheduled for Jan. 9, 10, and 11, but will now take place in April.

"My shows at the Armory this weekend will be postponed," Mulaney shared in an Instagram statement. "What's happening in your city is heartbreaking. I have to postpone shows in a town going through such awful challenges and such grief, because it feels unfair to the audience."

He continued, "Still, I don't feel comfortable asking thousands of people each night to leave their homes, gather at the venue, and then make their way home when the situation is still unsafe."

He added an apology to fans who might be disappointed by the news, considering people could probably use a distraction right now.

"I am sorry to anyone who is disappointed. I know a fun stand-up show could be a nice distraction, but it doesn't sit right with me to put anyone at risk," Mulaney concluded.

Despite his concern in upsetting fans, he received an overwhelming positive response, with many followers applauding him for his decision.

"Advanced notice with empathy at the heart, is respectable and welcomed," one fan wrote, while another added, "I hate it but I understand. I was looking forward to have a moment away from the horrors but it’ll have to wait. Can’t wait to see you soon."

Others wrote that Mulaney will be "remembered for doing the right thing" and called him a "good man."

The postponement comes just one day after 37-year-old mother Renee Nicole Good was shot in the head and killed by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer, captured on video by bystanders.
