Jessica Lange revealed she has a “bone of contention” with FX amid her American Horror Story return.
The Oscar winner said the network was “too f---ing cheap” to do one key thing for stars.
Lange and Sarah Paulson spoke about the season on stage at PaleyFest.
The actress behind Fiona Goode apparently had an admittedly bad experience over one key thing on the American Horror Story set.
Oscar winner and returning AHS icon Jessica Lange sent a New York City audience — and costar Sarah Paulson — into a fit of laughter during a PaleyFest interview on stage earlier this week, when she called out the FX network for, as she said, refusing to perform a specific task for its stars during production.
“We had to drive ourselves,” the 77-year-old bluntly stated during the panel discussion (as seen in footage circulating online), before naming the network outright and giving a sarcastic salute with her left hand.

Paulson exclaimed, “Oh, yeah!” after Lange’s claim, with the legendary actress — who returned this season after last leading the series’ fourth installment, Freak Show, from 2014-2015 —noting that it’s “still a bone of contention” for her.
“We would drive ourselves home at like 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning, park on some street in the French Quarter, and find our way home,” Lange said of shooting in New Orleans, where she originated Goode (the leader of a band of witches) on season 3, subtitled Coven.
Lange then said the move was made “because they were too f---ing cheap” to provide cars for the stars, while Paulson laughed at the observation.
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to FX representatives for comment on Lange’s claim.

Lange’s long-awaited return to the main cast of American Horror Story finally came after years of speculation, with the actress herself even vehemently denying she’d come back for more of the Ryan Murphy horror series in a hilarious red carpet interview in February 2025.
It was eventually revealed that she’d reprise four roles from past iterations (season 1’s Constance Langdon, season 2’s Sister Jude Martin, season 3’s Goode, and season 4’s Elsa Mars) in season 13, which also saw Paulson, Gabourey Sidibe, Emma Roberts, Evan Peters, Billie Lourd, and more return from prior seasons.

Lange also revealed that she had a strict condition that FX and Murphy had to agree to before she signed on for more AHS episodes.
“First, he talked to me about playing [season 1’s] Constance, which I think was his favorite character that I did. But I said I’ll come back if I can do all four characters,” Lange said in September on Live With Kelly and Mark.

She went on to say filming the season “was great because I like all four of those characters. It was fun to play them, and, coming back, it was great to do them again.”
