(WFXR)- Governor Abigail Spanberger said county music icon Dolly Parton inspired the lives of millions of Americans.

Dollywood honors Dolly Parton following her passing

Parton racked up more than 60 county music awards during her storied career. She was the face of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Parton acted in classic movies like "Steel Magnolias" and "9 to 5." She was also well known for her extensive philanthropy. Parton's Dollywood Foundation focuses on childhood literacy, education, medical research, and disaster relief.

Parton died peacefully in Nashville on Tuesday, August 25 at the age of 80.
