Glen Powell is "a little bit of pain" at the 2026 Golden Globes — seriously.
The actor, 37, has begun filming season 2 of his hit Hulu comedy series, Chad Powers, and revealed on Variety's Golden Globes Red Carpet Pre-Show that the series' physical demands are catching up with him.
"I took some hits yesterday," Powell admitted. "If I'm walking a little weird, it's because I'm in a little bit of pain."
Powell plays a washed-up football star who disguises himself to reclaim his championship dreams and play for a struggling football team in the series. The first season earned him a nomination for best performance by a male actor in a TV series - musical or comedy.
Powell plays a lot of real football to make the onscreen magic happen. "We're leveling up on the football, we're leveling up on every part of the fish," he teased of season 2. "I'm just really excited about what this season has in store."

Season 1, he said, "ended on sort of a darker note, and I think that's what season 2 is definitely gonna represent. It's really the chaos that Russ Holiday is bringing on the world."
"It's all coming crashing down in the best way," Powell teased.
Powell told PEOPLE ahead of season 1's premiere that "all the football is legitimate" in the show.
"I mean, I'm facing off. I'm squaring up with guys who played pro ball. I mean, these are real,” he said.

One of his opponents on the field was a 6'7", 350-pound athlete, and he recalled of those scenes: "That is the biggest thing that's ever run at me at this speed."
"You get to start learning how to be pretty fast, and you definitely burn some calories that way. But it was all practical football; I wasn't hitting the gym or anything.”

Chad Powers was inspired by a 2002 Eli’s Places video starring former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, in which he went undercover at Penn State Football's walk-on tryouts. Eli and his brother Peyton Manning both executive-produced Powell's series.
For Powell — who said he's "always liked playing pretend" — there was "nothing not to love" about the show.
“We're getting to be in a world that I love, which is college football, and we're getting to collaborate with your pals and make something really fun that I think the world's going to love."
