If loss has taught Brian Austin Green nothing else, it's to never take the time left for granted.**

The actor reflected on the loss of his former *Beverly Hills, 90210 *costars Luke Perry and Shannen Doherty during a visit to the *Inside of You* podcast with Michael Rosenbaum last month, lamenting how "s----y" it feels when the loss of loved ones feels inevitable.

Green recalled Perry's death from a stroke at 52 in March 2019 as "a really tough one" as he and the late actor had just spent time together before the news of his passing was announced.**** "I had seen Luke not even a week before then. And we'd had lunch and he was Luke. He was the same exact person that I've known," Green told Rosenbaum. "And all of a sudden I got a call and it was like, 'Hey, he's in the hospital. He had a stroke last night.' And then two days later, 'Yeah, he didn't make it.' Like, what? What? You're kidding, right? I'm being like punked right now? This doesn't make any sense."

The whiplash was a completely different experience from the death of Doherty, who died last July after a long battle with cancer. Green noted that he was aware his time was precious with Doherty, who portrayed the mercurial Brenda Walsh on *90210,* as she "had Stage Four for a long time."

"It wasn't in the front of my mind, but there was always that thing in the back of my mind of appreciate all of these moments because you don't know how many more you're going to get," Green, who played David Silver on the iconic teen drama, said. "So yeah, just enjoy all of this time that's left."

Doherty had a special place in Green's heart, much like Perry. "She used to dance with me and my friends in my dressing room when we had time off, which we had a lot of," he wistfully recalled. "And, she was super fun. She was just an incredible heart,"

The *Charmed* alum was "so loyal to people that were friends of hers and that were loyal with her," he added. "She was just an amazing human being."

Green, who has previously shared that he regularly thinks of Perry in his daily life, lamented how much the loss of loved ones stings more the older he gets. "It's s----y when you lose people at the age we are now, because like, I know I'm gonna lose people that I love in my life — that's inevitable," he told Rosenbaum.

"But you don't think you're gonna lose them this early on. So when you do, it's just like, I never saw that coming," he added, somberly. "And it, like, smacks me in the face. I'm at that age, we're in our fifties."
