Tom Welling posted a skyline Instagram Story on Oct. 9 that showed his nude reflection; it stayed up about 10 hours.
He still hit New York Comic Con’s 25th anniversary Smallville panel with Rosenbaum, Kreuk and Durance on Saturday.
Welling hasn’t addressed the photo but told a story about signing a fake nude picture of himself for John Glover.
Tom Welling showed New York more than its skyline. Then he showed up for his shift like nothing happened.
The former Clark Kent, 49, worked the Javits Center floor Saturday, signing merch for New York Comic Con fans. His message: “Come say hi.”
Here’s the setup. On Friday, October 9, 2026, Welling posted a view from what looked like a New York City hotel, captioned “Hello NYCC.” Skyscrapers. Streets. Blue sky. Lovely.
Except the window’s reflection revealed he took the photo while wearing no clothes.

The Story stayed on his public profile for at least 10 hours before he deleted it. That’s a long time with 2.2 million followers. His name soon trended on X and Google Trends.
X did what X does. One user screamed, “NO WAY TOM WELLING ACCIDENTALLY POSTED HIS D**K ON HIS INSTAGRAM STORY.” Another said they’d been “flashbanged by Tom Welling posting a nude story” while scrolling at work.
A third diagnosed the real crisis: Welling “needs a pr agent BAD.”
Hard to argue. Some fans also warned others not to repost the image without his consent, a rare online outbreak of decency.
Welling hasn’t said a word. TV Insider contacted his rep but didn’t hear back right away, and Us Weekly also reached out for comment.
Instead, he did the most Clark Kent thing possible. He got dressed and acted normal.

At 11 a.m. Saturday, Welling joined Michael Rosenbaum, Kristin Kreuk and Erica Durance for “The Road to Superman: 25 Years of Smallville.”
Rosenbaum, eternal hype man, posted a clip from the stage: “@newyorkcomiccon with my pals.” He said nothing about his pal’s skyline content.
Then Welling did something either genius or completely oblivious. He told a nude-photo story.
He recalled John Glover showing up at his makeup trailer, beaming, with something for him to sign. It was “a picture from the internet that somebody had made of me completely naked.”
The fake was obviously fake. When Glover asked if it was really him, Welling fibbed, said yes and signed it.
Read the room, Tom. Actually, never mind. He owned it.
Durance had the panel’s most accidentally loaded line. Recalling her co-star on set, she said “Tom was looking in slow motion, and I mean that in the best way.”
The timing is almost poetic. The panel celebrated 25 years since Smallville premiered on October 16, 2001. The show was about a farm boy hiding what he’s got. A quarter century later, Welling is having a much harder time with that.
And the tour continues. Next up are Comic Con Scotland in Edinburgh and a Salute to Smallville event in Nashville in November.
