Two of the most recognizable rock bands of the 2000s are officially teaming up again. Yellowcard and Good Charlotte have announced the release of a collaborative version of Yellowcard’s song “Bedroom Posters,” set to arrive on January 16.

The announcement came through a shared Instagram post that instantly sparked nostalgia among longtime fans who grew up with posters on their walls and music playing late into the night.

The release comes just over a month before the bands begin their highly anticipated Australia and New Zealand tour, where they will share the stage alongside Australian favorites Kisschasy.

Yellowcard also added a deeply personal touch to the announcement. Frontman William Ryan Key reflected on the early days of his music journey, recalling how he left home in 1999 to chase a dream with little more than a car full of belongings and a mattress on the floor of a storage shed.

The re-release of “Bedroom Posters” builds on a song that already carries emotional weight. Originally released in August and later included on Yellowcard’s 2025 comeback album Better Days, the track looks back on youth and the fear of leaving those moments behind.

The new version adds vocals from Good Charlotte, blending two voices that defined pop punk in the early 2000s.

The song was produced by Travis Barker, drummer of blink-182, who also played on every track of Better Days. His involvement helped give Yellowcard’s return a polished but familiar sound, making the collaboration feel natural rather than forced.

For Yellowcard, this moment continues a powerful comeback story. Better Days, released in October 2025, was the band’s first album since their 2016 self-titled release and followed a lengthy split that began in 2017. The album signaled a full return, not just a brief reunion, and showed a band ready to move forward while honoring its past.

Meanwhile, Good Charlotte’s involvement adds another layer of meaning. The band is touring in support of Motel Du Cap, their first album in seven years. While their 2018 release Generation Rx once felt like a closing chapter, the band reunited years later and found renewed purpose.

Guitarist Benji Madden has spoken about feeling especially connected to Australia, while Joel Madden has shared that many of the band’s earliest international successes happened there.

Both bands rose to fame around the same time. Good Charlotte broke through with The Young and the Hopeless in 2002, while Yellowcard followed closely with Ocean Avenue in 2003, becoming known for their emotional lyrics and signature violin sound.

The upcoming tour reflects that shared history. It also marks Good Charlotte’s first proper Australian tour since 2018 and includes a special Bendigo stop rather than the usual Melbourne location.
